The Fitok Technical Committee

The protection of biodiversity and forest assets is one of the great challenges to be won. The international strategies, identified by FAO and WTO, also provide for phytosanitary risk reduction policies connected to the transfrontier handling of wooden packaging.
The Wood-Sugher Services Consortium was recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies, with the decree of 13 July 2005 n. 175/2005, as a manager, at national level, of the IPPC/FAO brand, which guarantees the phytosanitary compliance of wooden packaging at the ISPM standard n. 15.

What is the Fitok Technical Committee  
It is an organism of the manager who, under the surveillance of the National Phytosanitary Service (SFN), organizes and controls the production chain relating to wooden packaging and wooden components of packaging to ensure the correct phytosanitary treatment provided for by the ISPM international standard 15 of the FAO.

As the Fitok Technical Committee operates
The activity began simultaneously with the entry into force of the ministerial decree (already in July 2005) and is based on "Regulation for the use of the Fitok voluntary phytosanitary brand", approved by the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf); The regulation contains:

  • procedures for the correct affixing of the IPPC/FAO brand;
  • Technical specifications for the treatments and the segregation of materials, made official by the SFN
  • procedures for the traceability of the operations carried out throughout the wooden packaging chain
  • control of the use of the IPPC/FAO brand and others connected to it 
  • procedures for the importance of non -compliance and related sanctions
